STRIDE has a professional nutrition consultant and lifestyle coach on staff who can sit down with you as you take on your new exercise program. Our nutrition consultant offers personalized nutritional advice and will develop a detailed registered dietician nutrition plan specifically for you, based on your individual needs.
Eating healthy and exercising is not just about looking good. It’s about your long term health and the quality of your life and your life with others. It’s about getting your body to perform at top efficiency, maintaining your energy levels, having normalized blood pressure, and preventing heart attacks, cardiovascular disease, and other ailments that can threaten your life if you don’t take your health seriously.
The way you eat has a tremendous effect on your health. Getting control over how and what you eat is absolutely essential in your success at reaching your fitness goals and improving and maintaining your health—for life. After a Fitness Assessment and Lifestyle Assessment, we will develop a plan that is personally tailored to meet your dietary needs and caloric intake requirements.
One on One Nutrition Counseling. We’ll sit down with you one on one and explain your personalized program. This alone can make a huge difference in the way you eat and in your overall lifestyle. Having a personal consultation with one of our Lifestyle Coaches to answer your questions and “tweak” your program may be what finally works for you. Couple that with weekly coaching sessions with your life coach and/or fitness coach, and you’ll get personal attention, accountability, advice, and results.
We teach Lifestyle Change not Dieting. We’ll educate you how to control your portions, how to manage your intake of fats and carbohydrates, and how to implement a nutrition and exercise program for the rest of your life that can make you feel better, improve your health, and teach you how to finally take control over the way you eat. We work with clients who are considered Type 2 diabetics, obese, or who have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, vegetarians and diabetic concerns.
Lifestyle Coach. In addition to our nutrition counseling and consultations, STRIDE offers weight loss coaching and counseling
Weekly, monthly, or as needed, your coach will meet with you in person (our area) or via phone / internet, and discuss goals, expectations, and obstacles to reaching success. You’ll get regular check-ins, tools and resources, feedback and suggestions, and the support you need.

Programs/Meal Plans
Dietary Analysis: An analysis of an individuals current eating habits to identify shortfalls, over-consumption (calories) and deficiencies in vitamins and minerals. This service typically justifies why you should consider a weight management program
Healthier You Program (4 weeks +)
Includes: Lifestyle Consultation, Dietary Analysis, 7 Days of Individualized Registered Dietician Meal Plans, Body Measurements and Weekly Grocery Lists
GI Program (Glycemic Index)
In principle, the GI weight management plan focuses on the way in which different foods affect blood sugar levels. Foods with a high glycemic index trigger a rapid rise in blood sugar levels when eaten, whereas foods with a low glycaemic index keep the body's energy levels more regulated.
Our review following focuses on the fact that as blood sugar increases, insulin levels in the body are elevated, and as a result, the body doesn't burn fat, this is what the GI diet plan attempts to minimise.
Foods with a high Glycaemic Index provide a rapid and short-lived energy burst, whereas foods with a low index offer the body a steady supply of energy, keeping hunger levels satisfied for longer and reducing the desire to snack.
On the GI plan, foods are ranked on a scale of 0-100 according to the effect they have on blood sugar levels. Glucose is used as the reference point, with a value of 100. Foods are then divided into 3 categories according to whether they cause a slow, medium or rapid increase in blood sugar levels when eaten.
A food with a low GI has a classification of 55 or less, a medium GI is between 56-69, and a high GI food has a figure of 70 plus. Foods with a high GI should be avoided, and foods with a medium GI can be eaten occasionally. The best thing about the plan is that if you are hungry, you can eat as much low GI food as you want.
This plan offers a healthy way to permanent weight loss as plenty of fruit and vegetables can be eaten, and refined and sugary carbohydrates are avoided. A weight loss of 1-2lbs each week can be expected, although more weight may be lost in the initial weeks as water will be lost as well as fat. The plan may also help to reduce the risk of developing diabetes and heart disease in later life as cholesterol levels are improved.
